Frequently Asked Questions
Included here are some of the questions we are commonly asked. We hope you can find the answer to your question here, but if you cannot, feel free to contact us.
"If my child is turning six in July or during a later month, can they still attend camp?"
This depends on when the child is turning six. The rule for our day camp is "Children must be turning six within the week they are registered for." This means that they can either turn six the week before they are registered, the week they are registered for, or within a week after the week, they are registered for. If the child is turning six through late August on, they will be unable to attend Crossfield Day Camp this year.
"Can I register my child(ren) on the Monday of the week they wish to attend?
We do not allow registration on the Monday of the week they wish to attend. Registration closes for each week on the prior Friday at noon. Camp however could be full by this date so we suggest registering in advance to ensure your spot.
"Are your camps already full?"
With our specific day camp, we usually do not reach capacity (maximum number of children) in June. We usually reach capacity for certain weeks a week before their starting date. Because of this we recommend that parents/guardians register at least a week before they wish for their child(ren) to attend. The earlier the better is our motto.
"Are the Crossfield Summer Youth Rec Program and the Crossfield Summer Adventures Day Camp the same thing?"
Although we both provide recreational opportunities to children, the Crossfield Summer Youth Rec Program and the Crossfield Summer Adventures Day Camp are not the same. The Youth Rec Program is for older children (ages 10 and up, except for swimming which is 8 and up) and the Crossfield Day Camp is for younger children (ages 6-12 years old). If you are looking for the Crossfield Youth Rec Program, they can on the Town of Crossfield website: https://www.crossfieldalberta.com/p/sports-and-recreation-programs
"What should my child bring to camp?"
Your children will need five important things. The first is their hat, which was purchased from the day camp. The second is a bottle of water; we recommend that all children bring a bottle of water, especially when it is hot out and when we are on field trips, as they will not be supplied. Thirdly, they should wear appropriate shoes for various activities, such as games, water activities, and crafts. They should also be appropriate shoes for the weather. In addition, your children should bring a swimsuit and towel everyday of the week, as any day could involve a water activity. Lastly, children should bring a lunch if they are not purchasing one. However, all children will need a lunch on Friday's, as they cannot purchase one while on field trips. For the most recent and update-to-date information, please read the newsletter that is sent home with the children every Monday.
"What is included in the lunch?"
At our day camp, we have snacks and sandwiches for the children during snack and lunch. We provide items such as granola bars, apples, oranges, fruit snacks, etc.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate allergies
